Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen has received numerous awards due to the creation, promotion, and expansion of Mother Goose on the Loose.

MGOL Honors

MGOL has received national acclaim:

  • The Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore, MD received the Godfrey Award for for Excellence in Public Library Services for Families for Mother Goose on the Loose in 2002.
  • Each year, Public Libraries Magazine chooses one best of the year" feature article. In 2004, first prize was given to “Mother Goose on the Loose: Applying Brain Research to Early Childhood Programs in the Public Library” a feature article from January/February 2004.
  • Named a “National Early Literacy Best Practice” by New York State Library in 2013
  • Highlighted as a “Brain-Building Powerhouse” by Mind in the Making, Families and Work Institute, and the Institute of Museum and Library services in 2015
  • Used as an example of best practices in the “Every Child Ready to Read” program evaluation by Susan B. Neuman, Naomi, Moland, and Donna Celano in 2017.
