Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen has received numerous awards due to the creation, promotion, and expansion of Mother Goose on the Loose.
- Recipient of the Association for Library Service to Children’s (ALSC) Distinguished Service Award in 2022
- Winner of the 2018 Alexandre Vattemare Award for Creativity in Libraries.
- Received Association of Specialized and Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) Leadership and Professional Achievement Award in 2013.
- Named “Librarian on the Loose" by the University of Baltimore in 2011.
- Named a “Mover and Shaker 2004” by Library Journal in 2004.
- Received citation from MD governor, Parris N. Glendening for encouraging children to read in 1999.
MGOL Honors
MGOL has received national acclaim:
- The Enoch Pratt Library in Baltimore, MD received the Godfrey Award for for Excellence in Public Library Services for Families for Mother Goose on the Loose in 2002.
- Each year, Public Libraries Magazine chooses one best of the year" feature article. In 2004, first prize was given to “Mother Goose on the Loose: Applying Brain Research to Early Childhood Programs in the Public Library” a feature article from January/February 2004.
- Named a “National Early Literacy Best Practice” by New York State Library in 2013
- Highlighted as a “Brain-Building Powerhouses” by Mind in the Making, Families and Work Institute, and the Institute of Museum and Library services in 2015
- Used as an example of best practices in the “Every Child Ready to Read” program evaluation by Susan B. Neuman, Naomi, Moland, and Donna Celano in 2017.
